I am responding to an article on page 418 and 419 in the textbook. Right off the bat the title of the article is “What America Owes Its “Illegals”. I laugh at the title because I think we do not owe them anything and they owe a bunch of taxes because most do not have the right to live in the states that families that have developed and have a signature saying that we live and own property in the United States. However this article is saying that they deserve a bonus. This is because they have been doing the dirty jobs such as mowing lawns, cleaning offices, hammering nails, picking our valuable crops and many other dirty jobs we both do for low paying salary. The article is also saying that there are many minority workers who are working on these jobs that are nameless. One quote I found from the article is that “I’ve got to find myself a couple of Jose’s for this job if we are going to have that roof patched up by Saturday. I do agree that the minority workers who come in to this country and live without citizenship are being treated poorly while earning a paying job for them and the families that the workers might have. However I think that they take away jobs from other unemployed job seeking Americans and we suffer more than the Mexicans. Recently found by the San Diego ACLU is that immigrants do pay a lot in taxes which they should. But the older Americans get to enjoy their old age   and live off pensions, retirement funds and other such bills that aid them. I am saying that immigrants do take advantage of living in the US illegally while US citizens are unemployed and not working. This world is messed up in aspects that affect daily life.

I cannot believe it snowed in April. On Saturday I got a suntan at a track meet and just two days later we got snow. After this record setting winter of snow and below zero weather I am almost ready to move when I get older. No wonder older people move to live in Florida as they age. Everybody does not like the cold weather and I cannot imagine what people would feel if it snowed not very much but still snow in June would mean something would be wrong with this atmosphere on earth. This is why I do not trust weathermen because that is the only job you can be wrong a lot on and still maintain a job. They mostly say a fifty percent chance of rain or less but then it rains and they are fifty percent wrong or often times predict the wrong precipitation we get with all their fancy and high tech equipment. I looked it up on the internet and according to some sites science says that snow in the warmer months of the year means that it disproves global warming and we just get a random snow in our ecosystem. In Alaska it is freezing and cold year bound because of their positioning. Some states do not even have salt for the salt trucks because they never expect snow in the south. I do want to move south because of the warmer weather and less corrupt government than in Illinois. Stay warm Illinois and keep those roads clear.

I am responding to an article on page 412 and 413 in the book talking about making money readable to the blind. First of all I am in agreement because the blind rely on others to help them because of their struggle they have to deal with in their life. I think that there could be a braille system made for money that would tell them what the number is on the corner of the bill. The only problem with this is that it would be much more time consuming too make braille money and then the separate money for the people that are able to see. Some of the ways that the Treasury Department can make money available to the blind is raising the ink, modifying the size of certain bills and producing a tactile mark to indicate a bills denomination. However the Treasury Department has objected all these solutions claiming that the seventy five million price tag is simply too high. Spending more money to make money that is losing its value. What a crazy situation America is in that is making the dollar worth less than it is. However if this change would have been made years ago rather than fighting the blind in court for a separate money currency we could have saved our tax money towards a better cause. Seventy percent of the blind population in America are suffering from unemployment which is not a shock at all to me. If you can see it helps a lot in the business world and business are most likely to reject you if you cannot see. I would be interested in watching a blind person at a job to see what they have to do and feel. There are still credit cards that the blind can use.

According to CNN news there is a new technological invention roaming the floors of the ocean. That’s right it is a manmade crab. I find this very interesting because if they can make a crab for research who knows what ideas other companies will get to make other inventions that could help us research animal or even future homes, businesses, or cars. The crab which weighs over half a ton is intended for the most dangerous missions in the sea. Developed by the Korean Institute of Science and Technology This crabster will help to solve long standing problems in the ocean waters that humans most likely do not think about on a daily basis. While propeller-driven craft do not work well in fierce tides, and divers are limited to calm, relatively shallow seas, the new machine mimics the design of crabs and lobsters that live in stormy waters but are still able to control their movements. I wish that America’s sciences could make something like this to mimic other animals while still able to see problems on the ocean floor and fix them. I give props to the Koreans because they are much more hardworking than the Americans. CR 200 will help divers or work instead of them the divers. It could also assist in finding underwater resources. What a great idea this is. Technology is a great thing and has come so far now making animals that can blend in, not bother other animals and helps find resources. I wonder what is next or how much it will build. The future is certainly bright for technology and making life easier.

This day March 28, 2014 marks Jacob Brandon Polston’s Birthday. Jake died on November 10, 2013 which was the day of my very first powerlifting meet. I knew Jake from football and I had a good friendship with him. He might have not made the best decisions and partied hard but I always did my best to get along with him and respect him. He was a hardworking, loving guy who was friends with everyone. I will always remember him in a good way because he was such a good person and son and brother. When someone dies in  a tragic way such as Jake did, no one forgets what happened and will always cherish the memories of his soul. Even if the parents don’t know his friends they still would see the support of how many people came to his visitation and hanged out with his friends and talked about him in a great way. I hope that more people avoid drinking while driving because that is how he died and he was not wearing a seatbelt. These are two easy things to avoid while driving to avoid a death of a loved one that affects so many people outside of the family and that has to pay bills just for death and college. Always remember do not drink and drive and always to buckle up. I hope and pray that his family will always remember him and think about him because that’s what you can do when someone passes. Rest in peace Jake and keep looking over all of God’s children. We love you Jake.

I am responding to a text on page 365 in the book and just by the title I thought it was making fun of lazy people and making them do the right thing in the work place or in life. As I kept reading it was talking about how poor the men are in the bathroom. While most of us would admit to having a gross bathroom at home and having nasty bathroom habits, the Amsterdam airport found by placing a picture of a fly in the urnal decreased spillage by eighty percent. Choice architecture is a very important part of what grabs are attention today such as making pictures and putting them in bathrooms across the world to help people do their business. If you give people easy enough choices for whatever they want to do such as go to the bathroom, pick a lunch in a restaurant or pick a medicine they need they will easily make the decision. Some tiny changes have become size of the meal, toilet and what the toilets are made of. Companies know this and have given people healthcare options and encourage people to save more. There are also more than one option. This includes enrolling for a magazine or school, their names are automatically entered into an automatic renewal program. Years back companies would have a certain amount of time and after the certain number of years the contract would expire. You would often see this is the NFL. Players have a five year contract and after have a choice to resign for more money or go to another team. In all of these examples people see that certain things can make life easier given a choice to make results better.

I was doing research for a paper and found out that there was a national day of unplugging ourselves from technology. In a recent paper I typed for English I saw how many people are always on their phones and computers playing games while they could strike up a conversation with a person and get to know them. While I do think technology is useful, our gadgets suck up so much time and constantly need fixing and recharging that we kind of lose sight of the outside world because we are so sucked into what is going on in Facebook and Twitter when we could be playing card games or having fun outside running around playing tag like I remember doing in third grade before we became so engrossed with phones and more. At some point the human race will not know how to function without their phone, computer, or tablet in their hands. Schools and libraries always have books and teach you how to read and write without the use  of computers. Today the school library is dominated by computers with online books and some hard backs but not as many as there were back in the forties and fifties. I realize times are changing as more and more people come up brand new ideas to help make life and business easier but let us not forget the simpler times of problem solving and figuring things out on your own without looking it up on Google. I admit I do this because I have not grown up being forced to play outside and having free time like many younger kids played outside such as my grandparents because they did not have TV or computers to spend time on.
