medical field response

My response to the text on page 213 is in agreement with the author. The author Rahul K. Parikh who is a medical doctor knows a lot when it comes to the people he has seen and treated. According to Rahul, African Americans are being a victim of racism in the medical field and sometimes not even being treated for any of their diseases. I hope that more and more blacks can be able to afford the costly but beneficial health insurance so they can get their problems fixed. I am fortunate to be healthy and live well enough to go to the doctor if I need too. I wish that the Medical field would train all the doctors with the same material to know how to handle all patients with varying problems. Even though the studies in the text article are good resources there are many poorer white and other raced people who cannot afford healthcare insurance to go get their routine checkup at the doctor. There are also blacks that are very wealthy that go to the doctor’s office. I think this article is true in regards to the studies, but also lacks sources of other examples of other races such as Hispanic or Caucasian who cannot afford to see a doctor. The paragraph that mentions that hospitals are in tough urban areas should be used to the lower income patients and be more familiar with them. The hospitals could give discounts to attract more people that need help. The doctors should not judge people by their skin color but as an individual no matter the financial situation.

At the NFL draft combine prospects run, jump, and show off their skills for owners, scouts, and coaches for their shot to play in the NFL. From what I have seen all of the players have freakish size, skill and abilities to help teams out in the game. I cannot imagine how hard it would be with the future staring at you and every move you make. Coaches can look at your high school, and college football film to see how you play and what your tendencies are in big games or see if you slack off in a certain point in the game. It seems like the scouts could know more about an individual than the individual knows about himself. However, if you are like Jadeveon Clowney with freakish size at six foot five and weighing two hundred and sixty-six pounds that runs a four point five second forty yard dash he deserves all the accolades for on the field. Hopefully he can work on his motor in the NFL because you cannot slack off even if you get double teamed by 2 other huge guys in the NFL. I am sure he will be taught to fight through all the noise that he might hear from outsiders. In today’s world the NFL teams that can master ignoring outside distractions will do good like the Seattle Seahawks who dominated this year and went on to win the Super Bowl in convincing fashion even though the state of Washington legalized marijuana and several of their players were under fire for using the drug. Hopefully all the rookies and other players can ignore the words and focus on their role on the field.  

A new face for schools is very much needed in today’s society. I am responding to the article on page fifty seven in the book and agreeing that there is such a powerful force at work on social media. Some of the power includes so much information at your fingertips that overwhelms the limited information of books. I think that colleges should just have online classes that should not make you go to the campus and hear a hour long lecture. Instead students can blog their opinion or have an input for a class over a skype for the class. The purposeful community paragraph is awesome because it is not just the student in the school because the student has connection to other students, teachers and parents. In today school system the involvement of books in not necessary and is costing too much for what students can learn online and on the internet. I am positive that books will eventually not be used and computers will evolve with great speed. It would make school more fun with online working and not having to come read books and listen to sometimes boring lectures that students tend to forget depending on their learning ability. I am a visual learner and I would prefer to look at graphs on the computer and then see details about the picture. Students can still get a good education without books by their side. Computers now have e books where you can read a story online with the luxury of not having to carry around a heavy book.

A recent news bulletin recently hit the airways in a big way. Michael Sam, a great defensive end from the University of Missouri came out and publically declared he is gay. I was watching ESPN and could not believe how much they blew up the story and made it national news. I realize that it is important that there are gay athletes in sports, but let’s do them a favor and treat them as human beings. It is their choice if they are interested in other men or women. I think that as long as they go and do their job that people should not single them out based on their sexuality rather than their actions on and off the playing surface. It also came to my attention that gay athletes have received much more attention than other big athletes such as Tim Tebow who claims to be a Christian and is involved with great operations. I understand that other players may soon come out publically if they want too and declare they are gay or lesbian. As a fan they should not care about that and focus more on the quality of the person and if he puts effort into being the best athlete and person that Michael Sam can be. His parents and friends and teammates are supporting him and that is what matters. In today’s social media world no secret is safe. I hope that people will look at Michael Sam, the great football player and person and see what he really is on the inside and out not just that he is gay.

I am responding to Bernhard Warner’s Article on page sixty-eight in the textbook on opinion of whether or not social networking is a waste of time. He said it is not and is virtually accessible to all teenagers these days. I think that students these days are in a very good situation with books and computers at their fingertips. If a student doesn’t know where to look they can just google a subject and find thousands of sources on the internet to learn from. It  is tempting to students to blow off school sometimes to just send a tweet or look at what is going on Facebook for the day. This pattern will continue to happen as technology gets more advanced in years to come. So getting rid of computers cannot be thought of. I think that more classes will be online based than meeting in a classroom in years down the road because students want to stay home and still learn on the computer, speak their opinion on blogs and researching information on their own just like what is happening today that will further develop into better study habits. Also teenagers are not the only ones checking their facebook during the day. As said in the article social media fanatics of all ages spend half the day on social media sites. I hope some people learn to use time more wisely. For me I have a good habit of doing my homework and when it is finished I have fun on the computer. As long as you are using your work time wisely then you can play games on the computer.

Should College athletes get paid

A recent debate has been discussed for years and will never change. The debate is whether or not college football players or athletes in general should be paid for athletic or any other sources of income. College athletes are constantly getting ready to play professional sports and have been leaving college after one year at their respective college to pay the bills. For football a record number of underclassmen are heading to the dangerous world of The NFL and leaving behind a chance for a bright future job and not getting hurt physically or mentally and being that way for the rest of your life. As the NCAA says college students are amateurs and not employees. That is the way colleges can get away without paying their students extra money for athletic events. Even if college athletes get paid under the table, the NCAA will get wind of the trade and investigate what happened and the sports and media world will blow the exchange between two people completely out of proportion and the school will be known for their students to be getting paid illegally.  To avoid all these troubles college student athletes should just stop complaining because they are not professionals yet and can still get a college degree or certificate and if something would happen to them, the individual would always have the option of going back and applying for a job where they would not get hurt or a concussion that can change their attitude and thinking for the rest of their life. College students need to finish out until their academic goal is reached.
